Naturally Green Pancakes

Ingredients for Natural Green Dye

  • 2 Cups Fresh Spinach 
  • 1 Cup Water 

Directions for Natural Green Dye

  1. Clean spinach thoroughly 
  2. Place spinach in a medium sized sauce pan and add water 
  3. Bring water and spinach mixture to a boil and boil for 15 minutes
  4. Remove from heat, and allow to cool slightly (10 minutes)
  5. Add spinach and water into a high power blender or a food processor and blend until smooth 
  6. Pour blended spinach and water through a strainer to remove big pieces, and then strain through cheese cloth 
  7. Keep green dye in air tight container and store in fridge for 2 weeks 

Ingredients for Natural Green Pancakes 

  • 1 Cup Shine Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix 
  • 1/3 Cup Milk or Water 
  • 1/3 Cup Green Dye 

Directions for Pancakes

  1. Preheat a griddle over medium-low heat
  2. In a bowl combine; pancake mix, milk/water, and dye. 
  3. Add small amount of butter or oil to griddle 
  4. Pour 1/4 cup batter onto hot griddle
  5. Cook on each side for 2-5 minutes
  6. Enjoy warm


If you choose to refrigerate your green dye, natural separation will occur. Just mix it back together before using.
